22 Nov: Happy 5th Birthday Wilkie!
This IS a very late entry, but here are photos of Wilkie's 5th birthday celebration. He requested for first, a chocolate cake, and then a pink cake, so I ended up making a chocolate cake with pink frosting (white chocolate ganache with pink food colouring), dusted with pink sugar powder to give that snowy effect. I made 2 cakes, one without the ganache, just a simple blue whipped cream text.
The day before his birthday, we went to Disney Sea which was a HUGE failure - he was put off by the the view of and the loud volcanic eruption sound effect just as we stepped onto the entrance. He immediately said, NO, NO, NO, I don't like it. I want to go home! It didn't go very well after that, so no more Disney Sea. It could have been more positive if we have been to Disney Land instead as he recognises more of the Pixar characters there. But oh well, no more of Disney Land or Sea!
On the day of he turned 5, we celebrated it first with the Polar Bear Club which was a simple affair of singing a birthday song and cutting the cake. All the mummies AND kids liked the cake and the white chocolate ganache was surprisingly good with the chocolaty cake.
And then another simple celebration at home with dear Daddy. Wilkie, as we expected, asked to blow the candle 10 times, and of course, we let him.
On that day, he ate nothing much else, but just cake for both lunch and dinner! It was his day and whatever he wished for I hoped, came true, made him happy, and made his day! He loved the gifts that we got (after much debate whether Transformers is an appropriate toy-- he's very much into it at this stage).
How time flies and he's now a 5 year old boy.

Oops! Sorry Uncle, oh sorry again, cousin Firdaus! And happy belated birthday to you too!
Happy birthday! He is such a big boy now.
Shun also cried at the entrance of USJ coz he saw a very big and green shriek last year..but we did manage a photo with elmo and cookie monster.
Thank you Miso, for still reading my blog and commenting :-) Yes, kids sometimes do recognise what is natural and what is fiction. Glad that you managed a photo with the sesame street characters, at least!
